Teaching involves fish biology, ecology, and aquaculture. Major research has focused on energetics of fish, including work on northern pike, which has elucidated the behavioral ecology and production of natural pike populations, as well as behavior and ecology of other temperate fishes, including muskellunge, brown trout, lake sturgeon, yellow perch, largemouth bass and alewives, and aquaculture of tropical fishes. Nancy K. Florida, Professor of Southeast Asian Literature & Culture

Professor Florida teaches courses in the literatures and cultures of island Southeast Asia as well as advanced levels of Indonesian language. Her research revolves around issues in Indonesian literature, history, and culture, with a focus on Javanese court literature of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Her books include Writing the Past, Incribing the Future: History as Prophecy in Colonial Java and Javanese Literature in Surakarta Manuscripts.
