Graduate Student Instructor Position - SEAS 455

A GSI position (.50 FTE) is available for an interdisciplinary topics course, SEAS 455 -- Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar, to be offered during Winter 2005 semester.  GSIs receive a full tuition waiver, health insurance, and a salary for the semester in which the position is awarded.  This position is hired under the provisions of the GEO contract.  Duties include organizing outside speaker schedules, heading discussion sessions, grading, and office hours.

Priority will be given to applicants who have an academic background on Southeast Asia and knowledge of a language of the region, and who intend to pursue an academic career (including teaching) focused on the region.  Strong preference will be given to graduate students and who have prior experience as a GSI.

All offers of employment are made in writing and are signed by the CSEAS Director.  No discussions or conversations regarding employment should be misinterpreted as offers of employment.  The duration of a GSI appointment is for one term only.

Application Procedure:

Submit curriculum vitae along with two letters of recommendation, transcripts,  and GRE scores.

Applications are due by December 10, 2004.  Selection decisions by the Director will be completed by December 13, 2004.  CSEAS will notify all applicants of hiring decisions by December 15, 2004.
