The United States-Indonesia Society Student Travel Grant

The United States-Indonesia Society awards one grant of $1,500 to a University of Michigan graduate student for travel to Indonesia to undertake a study-related project. Suggested projects include language study, summer internships, participation in a conference, enrollment in an Indonesian university, or independent research. USINDO views these awards, which are made to twelve U.S. institutions of higher education providing training in Indonesian studies, as supplements to funds from other sources.

Eligibility
The award is available only to U.S. citizens who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the University of Michigan.

Application Procedures
The Center will run an internal competition and select one applicant whose name and project will be forwarded to USINDO for their consideration. Do not apply to USINDO directly for these funds.

Applicants submit

  • Proposal describing the project
(This should include how the proposed program relates or ties into your field of study, and how your project or future career will help increase U.S. awareness of Indonesia.)
  • Budget showing all potential or actual funding sources
  • A C.V.
  • Two letters of reference
  • Graduate transcripts

The competition is administered by the Center and the successful applicant, selected by a fellowships committee of CSSEAS faculty associates, is recommended to the USINDO for the University's allotted award. Recommendation, however, does not guarantee an award.

Deadline
February10, 2007
